The Satyanarayan
Puja is performed to show respect to Narayan an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He
is seen as the symbol of truth. It is
believed the ceremony originated in Bengal as Satya Pir ritual performed by all
communities (Hindu, Muslim and buddhists) and later in 1800s transformed into
Satyanarayan puja. This puja
is popular among the Hindus.
It can be organized before any major like marriage, house warming ceremony, graduation, new job, the purchase of a new home, vehicle and baby shower.
